Condom Week History
Here is a brief history of National Condom Week:
1978 — National Condom Week was started by students at the University of California-Berkeley.
1980s - 1990s — National Condom Week moved from a local campus event to one that was embraced by universities, high schools, AIDS organizations, STD organizations, family planning organizations and pharmacies.
1995 — Christian Leadership Ministries sponsored a series of advertisements on various college campuses to encourage marriage as the only appropriate arena for sex. Advertisements such as "Love or Latex?" and "Who needs a condom when you have a commitment?" were distributed to counter Condom Week activities.
